Sir Alex: Tevez will stay
I dont want him to be unhappy, because hes an important player for us, the Reds boss told reporters on Friday. All good players want to play in every game. But you cant in this league, its impossible.
I think he genuinely wants to stay, and thats something were working towards Ive told him that repeatedly. Theres no more I can do.
Asked if he thought Tevez would still be here next season, Sir Alex responded: I hope so. I think he should be. But we are [vulnerable to losing him]. Thats a weakness because his contract runs out at the end of the season. And when hes being interviewed, the questions are loaded towards that.
The United boss doesnt agree that the United no.32 hasnt played as often as fellow strikers Wayne Rooney or Dimitar Berbatov. He has played more minutes than Rooney and Berbatov this season. Whether hes played in the big games is a different question, but I think he has played in quite a few big games.
appearances (13) than either Rooney (9) or Berbatov (4), but that perhaps points to how effective he is as an impact player.
The effort he puts in is fantastic, adds the boss. Thats one of his qualities. Hes a tiger. He fights for every ball and hes a real handful to play against.
