Manchester United's Wayne Rooney to play against Bolton this weekend



Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney should be right to feature in the game against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday at the Reebok Stadium.

The 24-year-old hit his 33rd goal of the season in all competitions, but the England hitman hobbled off the field after Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Old Trafford, which put United two points ahead of Arsenal for the Premier League lead.

Earlier in the month, Rooney missed United’s 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton with a knee injury, which he suffered whilst representing England in a friendly against Egypt.

With Rooney having already played almost fifty games this term, there is some concern that the Englishman would be worn down for the tight Premier League race, the Champions League, and the upcoming World Cup.

For another United striker the situation is quite different, as Michael Owen has confessed he will not be able to help the Red Devils for the remainder of the season after injuring his hamstring in the Carling Cup final triumph over Aston Villa.

"I had the operation two weeks ago, so I'm going to be on crutches for six weeks now,” Owen told The Guardian.

“I'm not allowed to do anything on it for six weeks, so I am definitely out for the season. I'm just looking to next season now. And I'll be back in a United jersey.

"I've got another year left on my contract here and have the option of a third as well. I've had a great time here and I am really looking forward to being back next season."
