Squad looking to improve after 'transition period'

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher believes he and his team-mates must start easing the goalscoring burden on Wayne Rooney next season and start hitting the back of the net more frequently themselves.
The Scotland international believes that only by sharing the goals throughout the team can Sir Alex Ferguson's side win the Premier League title back from Chelsea.
"There was a lot of pressure on Wayne to score all the goals last season and he took that burden on," Fletcher said, at a question and answer session with pupils at Irlam Primary School near Manchester.
"But sometimes that does not happen. All strikers go though phases when they do not score goals and that is when it is important that everyone steps up and does their bit.
"As a team we have to improve every season. I think we saw that Nani and [Luis Antonio] Valencia improved last year, and they are young, so they will get better. But even [Paul] Scholes and [Ryan] Giggs are trying to improve, and so am I, and so are the rest of the team."
Rooney hit 43 goals in all competitions last season, but it was not enough to prevent Chelsea winning the league.
With hindsight, Fletcher admits the Red Devils had adjustments to make last season following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, but he promises the squad will be working hard to improve in time for the coming campaign.
He added: "Maybe last season we went through a period of transition, though you don't realise it at the time.
"We lost some world-class players and other players came in. But we still managed to win the League Cup and stay in the league right until the end, while we were very unfortunate in the Champions League.
"We will learn from the things that went wrong and go one step further next year."

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to turn Inter's Mario Balotelli into Old Trafford's new Cristiano Ronaldo.
Sportmediaset.it claims Ferguson told former assistant, and current Portugal boss, Carlos Queiroz that he will sign Balotelli and develop him into United's new Ronaldo.
Despite Massimo Moratti claiming Balotelli had not asked to leave on Wednesday, reports in Italy insist Manchester United and Manchester City will wage a war over the striker.
The player's agent, Mino Raiola, said City had made an offer for the striker, but it was deemed too low.
Reports quickly followed that United had opened dialogue with the Nerazzurri, ready to carve out their own move for the hitman.
Both Premier League clubs are ready to bid up to 30 million for the 19-year-old, but Inter are reported to want at least 40m.

Tricky Ajax attacker Luis Suarez has been one of the star players of the 2010 World Cup and the Uruguayan international is continually being linked with a move to a bigger club, with teams such as Manchester United, Barcelona and Inter all believed to be keeping tabs on the forward.
Suarez revealed ahead of the World Cup that he's not interested in leaving his current club this summer, but the former Groningen star is apparently having second thoughts and could now be on his way out of Ajax after all.
"The first thing I want to do after the World Cup is go on a holiday. After that, we'll have to wait and see what will happen on the transfer market," Suarez was quoted as saying by De Volkskrant.
"I think that the people at Ajax all know that it will be very difficult for them to hold on to me. I've played a good World Cup and is it a known fact that this results in interest from bigger clubs. You never know what happens though."
The 23-year-old attacker has scored 74 goals in 97 Eredivisie appearances for Ajax since joining the Godenzonen from Groningen in the summer of 2007.
