Peter Schmeichel (a Manchester United living legend) has just declared that Anders Lindegaard is not Manchester United material. He made these declarations in an interview with the Mail Online.
According to Schmeichel, Old Trafford needs a goal keeper of the highest quality with plenty of experience under the belt.
He based his reason on the lack of experience on the part of Lindegaard. Schmeichel spoke of the need for a goal keeper who can "go in straight away and give performances in 80 percent of the game."
Anders Lindegaard has won five caps for Denmark and has played at Odense in his country and Aalesund in Norway.
He also admired Manchester United and Peter Schmeichel during his youth. It is surreal that Anders Lindegaard is going to be signing a more than $5.5 million deal with Old Trafford, to the chagrin of his idol.
But that appears to be the way of life in a sporting career, especially in football. Peter Schmeichel could make any declaration, but at the present time, it appears that the signing of Lindegaard is close at hand.
It remains to be seen whether he can live up to the hype as Chicharito Hernandez did when he signed with Old Trafford.
