Roberto Martinez addressed Everton's two injury concerns after Sunday's 2-1 win over Real Betis at Goodison. Marouane Fellaini, who was not in the 18, will be ready for the opener while Darron Gibson could miss out with a knee injury.
Gibson was subbed out just before halftime on Sunday after picking up a knee injury. Martinez identified the injury as a grade one ligament problem and had this to say about Gibson's diagnosis to the team's official website.
"Darron is the only negative. We have been quite fortunate throughout pre-season not to pick up knocks and bruises, but in the warm-up he opened his knee slightly, so he's got a grade one ligament problem."
"We'll have a clearer idea of it in the next 48 hours."
So it appears it's a wait and see game for the oft-injured Irish international midfielder and we'll have to wait and see how tests go as the week progresses.
Fellaini suffered a cut on his leg during the team's preseason tour in the United States and was held out Sunday as a precaution due to a minor infection in the wound.
"Marouane would have been available if it was a competitive game," Martinez said.
He'll be fine to travel for international duty with Belgium this week so unless he has any problems there, Fellaini will be set to start against Norwich.
