Beckham, who had set up both England goals, gave the fans a finger-full after the game. While his gesture attracted some criticism, many of the tabloid that had previously encouraged his vilification decided enough was enough and called for fans to leave him alone.

11. 'Have I been crapped on?' hair: September 2000
Becks started the 2000-01 season with a radical buzz cut. Gone were his trademark locks and any hope of concealing an unfortunate addition whether it be made by the local pigeons or the Old Trafford medical staff.

By October 2006, England had failed at the World Cup and Beckham had been dropped by new coach Steve McClaren. He was also out of favor with new Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello, and was in protracted negotiations over signing a new contract. Becks rate of hairstyle change had also slowed: this being the World-Cup do messed up.
